A huge thank-you to the nearly a dozen Eagle central office employees who “laid-down on the job” recently to donate blood to the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC). This was a great opportunity to continue to serve the community as CBCC uses all donations locally (within NC).…..Not everyone is a soldier, firefighter or EMT and giving blood is an opportunity for everyone to save a life. It’s a very small sacrifice for a great reward. Thank you to everyone who donated and a huge thank-you to everyone’s charitable efforts and energies to our community, as not everyone is medically capable of donating blood.

August 11, 2017: Eagle Physicians @ Lake Jeanette (336-373-1996) Pediatrician Dr. Aveline Quinlan was recently featured in Cone Health’s Physician Spotlight. Cone writes:
Aveline Quinlan, MD, FAAP, is a community pediatrician with Eagle Physicians @ Lake Jeanette where she serves as physician site coordinator of the family medicine and pediatric practice. Dr. Quinlan attended medical school at Howard University College of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency with Duke University. She sees pediatric patients of all ages (up to age 18), but is particularly passionate about preventive care and immunizations for the youngest of the population she serves. In fact, her Eagle pediatric practice was just recognized in July for their immunization rates being above 90% for 2 year olds.
She has been a part of the "It's a Matter of Your Health" syndicated radio show addressing the topics of childhood obesity, immunizations and whooping cough. She has served on the Women's Hospital Nursery Committee for more than 10 years.
Born on the island of Nevis in the Caribbean, Dr. Quinlan is the daughter of a now-retired nurse and midwife. Dr. Quinlan relates how she watched her mother treat patients in the Caribbean and – living on-site at the health center – how she came to know many of her mother's patients. Her father is an author, historian and educator who is known for his published works on The Christena Disaster.
Dr. Quinlan says the best part of being a pediatrician is working with her special population. Seeing patients going from "really, really sick" to "a brand new kid" is truly rewarding, she says. She also loves how they don't hold a grudge after receiving an injection. "Their next visit after receiving a shot, the child wants to give me a hug!"
Dr. Quinlan's husband, Al, is a North Carolina Assistant Public Defender in the Winston-Salem office. They have two children. She enjoys all types of gardening, traveling, spending time with her family and cooking Caribbean cuisine.

Eagle's Yard Sale
Eagle Family Medicine @ Brassfield employees Joyce and MaryKathryn decided to host an office "yard sale" with all staff and doctors bringing in items they would normally donate or give away so that everyone could participate in a no-cost swap meet. Gently used clothing, kitchen items, pictures, comforters and books were set up in the staff lounge and after everyone had an opportunity to preview the goods, they then selected items that could benefit their households and families. Unclaimed items were donated to Freedom Thrift House, which is a non-profit organization that offers long-term residential programs allowing mothers and children to stay together (at no cost to the families) when receiving certain social services. The Brassfield swap meet was a great way to recycle items that others can use and a fabulous opportunity to give back to the community. Thank you Brassfield!

Eagle Mother’s Day Lunch
This past Sunday on Mother's Day, Eagle’s Walk-In Clinic clinical lead, Allyson and the x-ray lead, Allison surprised all of the staff and physicians with a lunch in honor of Mother's Day. It was a total surprise, that they put together and paid for themselves. Their kindness to their co-workers left a loving impression on all the ladies (mother’s and daughter’s) who were working that day and had to share Mother’s Day with Eagle. Thank you Allyson and Allison for being such strong amazing women!

Eagle Family Medicine @ Brassfield Lab Technician Dee wanted to do something special for the community and came up with the idea of collecting gently used purses and pocketbooks and filling them with personal items for homeless women. All the staff and physicians at Brassfield loved the idea and collectively brought in 28 purses and filled them with useful toiletries and women's personal items - there were so many donations from staff and providers that they had more items than purses and were able to deliver all of the supplies and purses to the Greensboro Urban Ministry Women's Shelter this week. Thank you Dee and everyone at Brassfield for your big hearts and for the quality care you deliver to our community - both inside and outside of the Eagle office!
