What's New at Eagle?
A huge thank-you to the nearly a dozen Eagle central office employees who “laid-down on the job” recently to donate blood to the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC). This was a great opportunity to continue to serve the community as CBCC uses all donations locally (within NC).…..Not everyone is a soldier, firefighter or EMT and giving blood is an opportunity for everyone to save a life. It’s a very small sacrifice for a great reward. Thank you to everyone who donated and a huge thank-you to everyone’s charitable efforts and energies to our community, as not everyone is medically capable of donating blood.
Dr. Deema Yousef
Please help us welcome Dr. Deema Yousef to Eagle Family Medicine @ Triad! Dr. Yousef received her medical degree from Wayne State University and did her family medicine residency at Promedica in Ohio. Dr. Yousef is taking new patients and can be reached at our Triad office at 336-852-3819.

August 11, 2017: Eagle Physicians @ Lake Jeanette (336-373-1996) Pediatrician Dr. Aveline Quinlan was recently featured in Cone Health’s Physician Spotlight. Cone writes:
Aveline Quinlan, MD, FAAP, is a community pediatrician with Eagle Physicians @ Lake Jeanette where she serves as physician site coordinator of the family medicine and pediatric practice. Dr. Quinlan attended medical school at Howard University College of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency with Duke University. She sees pediatric patients of all ages (up to age 18), but is particularly passionate about preventive care and immunizations for the youngest of the population she serves. In fact, her Eagle pediatric practice was just recognized in July for their immunization rates being above 90% for 2 year olds.
She has been a part of the "It's a Matter of Your Health" syndicated radio show addressing the topics of childhood obesity, immunizations and whooping cough. She has served on the Women's Hospital Nursery Committee for more than 10 years.
Born on the island of Nevis in the Caribbean, Dr. Quinlan is the daughter of a now-retired nurse and midwife. Dr. Quinlan relates how she watched her mother treat patients in the Caribbean and – living on-site at the health center – how she came to know many of her mother's patients. Her father is an author, historian and educator who is known for his published works on The Christena Disaster.
Dr. Quinlan says the best part of being a pediatrician is working with her special population. Seeing patients going from "really, really sick" to "a brand new kid" is truly rewarding, she says. She also loves how they don't hold a grudge after receiving an injection. "Their next visit after receiving a shot, the child wants to give me a hug!"
Dr. Quinlan's husband, Al, is a North Carolina Assistant Public Defender in the Winston-Salem office. They have two children. She enjoys all types of gardening, traveling, spending time with her family and cooking Caribbean cuisine.

Eagle's Yard Sale
Eagle Family Medicine @ Brassfield employees Joyce and MaryKathryn decided to host an office "yard sale" with all staff and doctors bringing in items they would normally donate or give away so that everyone could participate in a no-cost swap meet. Gently used clothing, kitchen items, pictures, comforters and books were set up in the staff lounge and after everyone had an opportunity to preview the goods, they then selected items that could benefit their households and families. Unclaimed items were donated to Freedom Thrift House, which is a non-profit organization that offers long-term residential programs allowing mothers and children to stay together (at no cost to the families) when receiving certain social services. The Brassfield swap meet was a great way to recycle items that others can use and a fabulous opportunity to give back to the community. Thank you Brassfield!

This past Sunday on Mother's Day, Eagle’s Walk-In Clinic clinical lead, Allyson and the x-ray lead, Allison surprised all of the staff and physicians with a lunch in honor of Mother's Day. It was a total surprise, that they put together and paid for themselves. Their kindness to their co-workers left a loving impression on all the ladies (mother’s and daughter’s) who were working that day and had to share Mother’s Day with Eagle. Thank you Allyson and Allison for being such strong amazing women!
Happy Birthday to Eagle Family Medicine @ Guilford College physician Dr. Francis Wong! An avid outdoors person and cyclist, the woodsy cake scene with bicycle and dog that the staff got him was a huge hit. Happy Birthday Dr. Wong - we love you!

As part of our commitment to helping our community Stay Healthy™, Eagle has partnered with the national "Walk With A Doc" program. On one Saturday morning each month, the entire community is invited to come out and hear a 5-minute health information talk from one of our doctors and then take a 45 minute group walk with that doctor. Eagle's second Walk With A Doc event is Saturday, May 13th at 9am (early registration at 8:45am). It will be hosted by Dr. Benita Varnado of Eagle OB/GYN at Latham Park (324 Wendover Ave. across from the Weaver Park Center building on the corner of Wendover and Cridland). National Doctors' Day
March 30th is National Doctors' Day and today (and every day) Eagle staff celebrates our physicians with respect, admiration and gratitude for our doctors strength and tireless dedication to their life's work. We are proud to serve our patients with you. #EagleDocsRock!
Eagle Family Medicine @ Brassfield Lab Technician Dee wanted to do something special for the community and came up with the idea of collecting gently used purses and pocketbooks and filling them with personal items for homeless women. All the staff and physicians at Brassfield loved the idea and collectively brought in 28 purses and filled them with useful toiletries and women's personal items - there were so many donations from staff and providers that they had more items than purses and were able to deliver all of the supplies and purses to the Greensboro Urban Ministry Women's Shelter this week. Thank you Dee and everyone at Brassfield for your big hearts and for the quality care you deliver to our community - both inside and outside of the Eagle office!

Welcoming Our New Oak Ridge Provider!
Kaitlin Stock, NP:
“I chose to become a family nurse practitioner because I enjoy providing care to patients of all ages. It allows me the opportunity to develop long term relationships with my patients and their families. I value the trust and respect that comes with these relationships. For me it is important to remember that behind every disease is a person with hopes, dreams and even fears. I strive to provide my patients with the best quality care to allow them to sustain a long healthy life.”
Scrubs Vs. Suits
Eagle Physicians was a sponsor of the doctors vs. lawyers charity basketball game on February 26th to benefit the Mustard Seed Community Health project and Sunday’s game was a fabulous event as professionals in our community came together in friendly competition to help support Greensboro’s medical clinic mission. A silent auction helped raise additional funds for this worthwhile cause and true to their profession, the physicians were showing off their healthy game, while the lawyers argued referee calls……..so much fun! Thank you to everyone who came to cheer them on and support this valuable community medical resource.
Annual Scholarship Gala at Greensboro Medical Society
Saturday, February 11th was an exciting evening at the Greensboro Medical Society as they held their annual Scholarship Gala to benefit medical students, in support of local health careers. Eagle Celebrates 20 Years!
Eagle Physicians & Associates, PA celebrated its 20th anniversary October 1st. As a premier physician-owned, independent, multi-specialty medical group, Eagle has navigated 20 years of health care change and adapted to reform through progressive enhancement of patient care. Founded in 1995 by five primary care groups, Eagle now has 11 offices in a variety of specialties including family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, gastroenterology, sleep medicine and endocrinology.
Eagle also has a state-of-the art endoscopy center which is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care as an ambulatory surgery center. The center performs colonoscopies and endoscopies in a cost-effective outpatient environment. Ancillary services include laboratory, bone mineral density testing and ultrasound, which complement Eagle’s slate of specialties and medical providers.
Eagle’s Walk-In Clinic, which opened in 2000, offers evening, weekend and holiday care to both Eagle and non-Eagle patients on a walk-in basis. The Walk-in Clinic affords patients with the flexibility of receiving medical care at a time when it is convenient for them and their families with less cost and shorter wait times than emergency medicine.
Health care has changed rapidly in recent years, and Eagle was one of the first private practices in the Greensboro community to implement Electronic Medical Records (EMR) – launching eClinical Works in 2009. Implementation of the EMR greatly enhanced patient care by supporting continuity of care via medical information sharing among a patient’s Eagle providers. The accompanying patient portal allows patients online access to their health information. It’s a quick and easy way for patients to communicate electronically with their doctor’s office through email, appointment requests, prescription refill requests and viewing lab results. In 2013, as a continuation of efforts to help patients stay healthy, Eagle went through a rigorous year-long process to achieve Patient-Centered Medical Home Recognition. Attaining the highest level of recognition by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (Level 3) in 2014, this award honors distinguished excellence in healthcare and puts the patient at the center of our team-based approach to quality care.
Eagle’s CEO, Vicki Gregory, who has spent the past 20 years in various roles at Eagle, cites pride in her physicians stating “It’s not often that you see longevity in employment. Seventeen of our 50 physicians have been with Eagle these past 20 years with many more having retired from their medical careers at Eagle. The level of patient commitment that Eagle embodies plays out through the generations of families being cared for at Eagle. We walk life’s journeys with our patients and see “babies” grow up and go off to college, children become parents and adults become grandparents. It’s amazing to look back and see how far we’ve come and see how putting patients first is what got us here. We are honored by the confidence this community places in us and we thank our patients for 20 years of trusting us with their healthcare.”
Eagle is growing! Please help us welcome the newest provider to our team: Dr. Francis Wong at Guilford College. Check out the web individual page and call the office for an appointment if needed.
Patient Centered Medical Home
As we continue our efforts to help patients Stay Healthy, Eagle has received the highest level recognition by the National Committee for Quality Assurance and has been designated as a Certified Patient Centered Medical Home, which is one of the highest medical practice honors for distinguished excellence in healthcare.
